Ever Feel Like You Did Not Belong?
Growing up that was a reality for me. My lack of athletic talent and social skills played a factor. The one area where I felt I was acknowledged was in gaming. Games provided a feeling of being accepted for who I am, with or without ability. That was the first true User Experience for me.
I adopted the principles of inclusiveness from gaming which translates to how I involve others in activities that they would feel they didn't belong to. This empathetic way of viewing people, and how they interact with the world around them, brought me into the career of UX design. Whatever I create and whomever I become, I want others to have that same feeling of belonging that video games gave me.
